What is kraft paper?
Kraft paper is a strong brown paper that was developed in 1879 and named after the German word for “strength”.
In the production process, wood chips are cooked using intense pressure, heat, and a mixture of alkaline chemicals. The cellulose is separated from the lignin in the wood, washed, and screened through large rollers. Then the kraft paper can be rolled, dried, cut down, and made into various packaging items.

Why consider Kraft paper?
High strength
Kraft paper is a highly durable material with incredible tear resistance. This makes it suitable for most applications, from supermarkets to warehouses to small business packaging.
Cost-effective

Durability
Another main advantage of using kraft paper is its durability. Kraft paper has immensely strong properties that provide greater durability than other conventional packing materials. It can withstand industrial pressures, such as moisture, heat, and cold, making it suitable for extreme environments, like the refrigerator. Also, it’s perfect for heavy products or sensitive goods, like jewellery or technology.
Is kraft paper eco-friendly?
Kraft paper is fully recyclable in any home recycling bin or local recycling facility. This makes it easy for you and your customers to dispose of it responsibly. The higher level of strength also means that kraft products can often be reused multiple times, offering a more sustainable packaging alternative to plastic bags and plastic-lined products.
The production process for kraft paper is more sustainable because it requires fewer bleaching chemicals. What’s more, roughly 90% of the pulping chemicals can be recovered and reused economically, having minimal environmental impact.
