Recycle Face Masks With Future Post

Our face masks never stop protecting.

Disposable face masks are thrown away every day in New Zealand, where they typically end up in our landfills. At Primepac, we’re making sure that our PPE products go on to have a new life.

Our exclusive partnership with Future Post ensures that all of our PPE products and face masks are recycled into fence posts. We’re committed to protecting our local environment and the future of our planet which means taking steps to create a circular, sustainable economy. This partnership saves 180 tonnes of our plastic waste annually by producing fence posts for farms.

We’re proud to play our part in this exciting new initiative which will minimise the amount of plastic waste that ends up in our soil, oceans and rivers.

Recycle disposable face masks and PPE

Future Post stewardship

One crate of 34 Future Posts contains 34,000 face masks and is equal to one tree.
Every year, 5 million fence posts are sold in New Zealand. Future Post was founded on the idea that a stronger, longer-lasting fencepost could be created from plastic we throw away every day.

How does it work?

Face mask

   1. Used masks are discarded into dedicated bags

Sealed bag

   2. The bags are sealed and not opened again

Collection truck

   3. Bags are hygienically collected

Mixer

   4. Masks and bags are ground up together

Melting temperature

   5. They are melted with other plastics at 250°C

Fence posts

   6. The plastic mixture is extruded into fence posts

Once the PPE products are bagged, they are not handled by humans. The sealed bag is securely delivered, granulated and heated to 250˚C eliminating any contaminants.

PPE recycling partnership with Future Post

A stewardship for the future

Primepac is the exclusive supplier of polypropylene face masks and PPE to Future Post. Future Post uses polypropylene to make tough, long-lasting fence posts for New Zealand farms, which is an exciting step toward a circular waste economy.

One crate of 34 fence posts would traditionally require a tree to be felled, but now can be made using 34,000 used, disposable face masks instead. This is a revolutionary step for the recycling industry in New Zealand, and Primepac is proud to partner with Future Post for this initiative.

Our customers can be sure that their PPE will be of the highest quality and that it will be possible to recycle it after use, enabling you to choose an option that is good for the environment.
